What is the purpose of blessing your home?

Blessing the home is to invite God’s presence, dedicate the home to the Lord, and make a stand in the spiritual realm that only the Holy Spirit belongs here. Scripture emphasizes that God’s presence brings blessings. For example, when the Ark of the Covenant stayed in the house of Obed-Edom, “the LORD blessed him and his whole household.” 2 Samuel 6:11.

Dedication and Commitment: Declaring faith and commitment within the household is a keyway to bless a home. “But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15. A home aligned with God’s commands is considered righteous and receives His favor.

Proclaim Peace: Jesus instructed His followers, “Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’” Luke 10:5. Speaking peace over a home reflects God’s nature and invites His protection and harmony.

What is it biblically & why today?

Traditionally we have seen priests blessing homes and biblically, not limited to priests. "...and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.” Exodus 12:23. It is a foreshadowing of Christ's blood, the perfect lamb, is what protects and forgives. Today, sacrificing lamb's is not needed after Christ's ultimate sacrifice and His Spirit is what anoints us.

Why the oil?

Oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit and the act of worship:

1. Healing the Sick: In Mark 6:13, the disciples anoint the sick with oil and heal them, demonstrating the practice's significance in the early Church as a means of invoking God's healing power. Also, in James 5:14.

2. Anointing in Worship: In the Gospels, a woman anoints Jesus with expensive perfume as an act of worship, highlighting the symbolic nature of anointing as a sign of honor and devotion (Matthew 26:6-13; Mark 14:3-9; John 12:1-8).

3. The Anointing of Believers: In 1 John 2:20, the Apostle John states that all believers have an anointing from the Holy One, indicating that the Holy Spirit empowers every Christian, not just specific leaders.

1ST: THE FRONT DOOR.

Declare Deuteronomy 28:6: "You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out."

Everyone who enters your home will be kept and protected, and anything not from God will be stopped at the door.

Pray: Lord, I cover this doorway in the name of Jesus. Let only what comes from You enter and let every evil assignment be turned away.

2ND: THE PANTRY OR KITCHEN

Declare Psalm 23:1: "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing."

This prayer releases God's provision and declares abundance over your home.

Pray:  Father, I thank You that my home will never lack. Bless this house with provision, overflow, and more than enough.

3RD: THE BEDROOM

Declare Psalm 4:8: "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety"

This prayer guards your sleep and cleanses your room from anything that tries to steal your peace.

Pray: "Lord, I invite Your peace into this room. Let every fear, anxiety, and heaviness leave, and let Your presence rest here tonight."

Not limited to 3 steps or residential homes: air BNB's, rentals, and other establishments!

Here are the 2 main items!

1. Anointing Oil - small roll-on or keychain anointing oil bottles with any olive oil set apart for the Lord, symbolic of the anointing for healing, sanctification, and consecration. I.e. James 5:13-16.

2. God's Holy Words - Copy/paste bible verses on Microsoft Word to print out. You can temporarily tape them above frames or simply use it to pray over the home.

3. Optional Picture Frame - Words of the Lord as wall art to set the tone of the home. Here are great over the door frame sizes: wooden 5" x 20" or black frame 5" x 20" (7" x 22" overall size).

I kept it simple to get the gist. Inquiring the Holy Spirit should be first as the Lord led His people to do these rituals for a season or certain time. Let it be a spark to show the need to spend more time with the Lord Himself to lead so, it doesn't become another dead ritual or idol. Experience His love for you, seek His face, and hear His voice, as our organic root of our home and in hard times. The mountain is symbolic to the height of God we can climb with Him, and the ocean is the symbolic depth of God we can explore with Him. The higher or deeper we go with Him, reveals the mysteries of Him. Therefore, knowing Him more means learning how to trust and lean on His breath (rauch or Spirit) to survive both. He is our oxygen of faith in our salvation walk and growth.

Revelation 22:17

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

Praying we thirst more from His well of water He wants us to drink from (His Spirit) and hunger for His daily bread He wants us to eat from (His Words). May we produce the leaves of medicine and fruits of the Spirit (the signs of the believer). This is the receiving end of His love. And our hearts will burn on fire even stronger in His presence. We just need to be still with Him then; He will give the directions. Amen?
